The slow decline of American exceptionalism into the abyss of socialism continues unabated since FDR started his Social Security program. Obamacare and the "Me Too" Republican Obamacare lite is just another step towards the abyss.

The plight of today’s Obamacare harkens me back to the day when there were public pay toilets. There was a pitiful refrain after one put their money into the door of the toilet and set down to get one’s money worth. Perhaps a word could be changed in the old refrain to match today’s Obamacare, but the sentiment is still spot on. That old refrain goes like this, “Here I sit all brokenhearted, paid to poop but only farted.”

Election 2016

Perhaps, I'm just saying, Trump was not elected to unify the country. He was instead, elected to do war with the Ruling Class and give the power back to the people. If he can win the war with the Ruling Class then perhaps the country will stand a good chance of unifying once the Ruling Class will no longer be able to divide the people in order to maintain power.

Founders Wisdom

Look closely at the 2016 Presidential political map below where Red is Republican and Blue is Democratic voters. The basic reason the Electoral College is important is that history has shown that eventually a country's cities accumulate the most population, money, intellectual concentration, and power that eventually overcomes the rest of the country that supports the cities and their population. This condition always results in strife and destruction of the country as a whole. The senate and Electoral College provides balance between the the country as a whole and the urban centers, as the 2016 map clearly shows.

It is time to consider passing a law making it a crime to publish a political poll. Political polls have become weaponized in order to wage opinion war upon the public. Professional Politicians, and their operatives, use the weaponized polls to create public peer pressure to advance their political goals, at best, and to create positions based on focus groups rather than principle, at worse. If Politicians want to sample public political opinion, they may do so, but by law, they must keep their findings private.

Negative Vibs

It seems to me that our splendid Country is becoming overwhelmed by people whom can only find negative in every positive thing. They are the ones who give dimension to the notion that "Perfection Is The Enemy Of Good."

In other words, if our negative people of today were to have witnessed Jesus deliver his "Sermon On The Mount",  the only thing they would take away from the experience was that Jesus had dirty feet.

Neo Nazis

How can a leader of an advanced nation like Germany be so dumb? Chancellor Angela Merkel, by virtue of her misguided policy of letting the nation of Islam take over her country, has created an opportunity for the reassurance of the Nazis. As we are now beginning to see, her policy of unlimited Islamic immigration has enabled the Neo Nazis to have as issue that resonates with the whole of the German people.  And only the Nazis can ignore the global PC cabal and do what has to be done to rid Germany of the Islamic menace.  Dear God we don't need another Nazi union to deal with.

I believe the decision was made by Obama & Co. that the only way to get to a Government run Universal Healtcare System was to destroy the current healthcare System as a first step. Hence, all of the poison pills in Obamacare (ACA) to do just that. No doubt they will find a way to blame Repubs, but I believe that main target for destruction will be the Insurance Companies. It has already begun. So as you can see, Obamacare was constructed with Political goals, not heathcare goals other than conversion to Single payer. Thats what they told the Country they were doing, and I believe them.

Executive Summary

All of this talk about left leaning and right leaning this or that Supreme Court Justice "interpreting" the US Constitution, misses the point, in my opinion. The US Government is the only Government the world has ever known where the founders fully explained, in writing, the why, how and for what purpose the Constitution is so written. So a Supreme Court Justice needs only to read the Federalist Papers to understand what the words means in the written Constitution. He or She has no need to "interpret" the Constitution as slanting Left or Right. The Constitution has already been fully "interpreted" by the writers and founders in the Federalist Papers.  That is, the written Constitution is only the Executive Summary of the "real" Constitution, which is the Federalist Papers.

And what this means is we lose more jobs to computers and automation that all of the outsourcing and current job killers combined. The Coming Age Of The BORG

The Ballad of John Henry, Steel Driving Man

John Henry was hammering on the right side,

Before that steam drill could beat him down,

   Who among us could not feel a grudging kinship with the Steel Driving Man, you know, fighting the inevitable with spirit even though the outcome was as certain as death and taxes? Besides, who could feel the slightest affinity for that big mechanical steam drill that was taking a man’s livelihood away and all for the sake of the dollar that some faraway good-smelling Dude laid down so he could make even more dollars without breaking one iota of steel driving sweat.
We all may crack an amused smile at the thought of a real live man actually challenging a steam machine to a steel-driving contest with only his muscle, grit and determination to match the power of steam. We smile, of course, because of the foolish nature of the contest. But then again, I wonder what most contemporary people were thinking and feeling at the time when in 1997 they witnessed a more recent contest between a real live man (Garry Kasparov) challenging a thinking contest with only his brain, grit and determination matched up with the power of billions and billions of silicon switches fastened together with the lifeless software of the chess-playing computer, Deep Blue?
     Somehow I think we probably feel a little differently about the thinking contest due to the contemporary and cognitive nature of the contest. But, I don’t know why! The two contests are identical and the outcomes just as inevitable! Perhaps we don’t even think the chess match was a foolish contest because of the notion that the magnificent organic thinking machine, the human brain, is surely the ultimate cognitive device that no mere machine could ever match. The human brain will surely prevail for all times just like John Henry thought his muscles could surely prevail over the mighty mechanical steam drill even though we now concede our magnificent muscles are no match for lifeless machine power.
   Here is a thought to muss up your day when trying to decide what to do about being outsourced by the machines of automation and all because some faraway good-smelling Dudes are still trying to make more money without breaking a contemporary sweat. John Henry and Garry Kasparov are not the only contestants in a continuing struggle between man and machine that started when Gorg rubbed two sticks together to make fire. We all are front and center in the enduring contest and so will all of our progeny. Research shows that we are loosing far more contemporary jobs to automation than jobs that are lost to distant lands where labor is cheaper and more abundant. Indeed, one of the biggest loss of jobs today is due customer outsourcing.
   What that’s you say? What is customer outsourcing?
    Customer outsourcing is transferring a job that was once done by a paid employee to a paying customer instead. Here is just one minor scenario of customer outsourcing. You drive your rattletrap Chevy to the local gas station emporium where you get out of your seat, pop in and quickly remove your Master Card or Visa (a lot of lost jobs of people taking money, counting money, bookkeeping, accounting, depositing, etc.) and wait for the computer screen to instruct you to continue. After being authorized by a great big computer somewhere that is connected by satellites, relays and God only knows what, lift the pump-handle and pump your gas (more lost jobs of gas attendants). Hell, I’m even checking myself out at the local Wally World and Home Depot and buying stuff off of the Internet by clicking a mouse and causing a massive whirling of untold computers that fetch my latest Ronco gadget, package and ship it without a single paid employee in sight.
   All of this is made possible by technology and (oh no Mr. Bill!) Machines. Because this is a continuing process, it is less noticeable in our everyday, put the meat-on-the-table lives. For example, before the industrial revolution, well over 50% of all people in the country was working on farms while today we produce all of our food needs by less than 1% of the population, i.e., million and millions of jobs lost to machines and we rarely think about the farm job losses as we rant about all of our current jobs going to China, India and machines.
  And the non-physical jobs like engineering, accounting, marketing, research are also being outsourced to machines and cheaper labor, so no one is immune to job loss except the rich (that is if you believe making money off of money constitutes a job).
   I think you get the picture and if you get the picture then you know that contemporary job losses will continue on at an ever-accelerating rate and due mostly to automation (machines). What to do? Hell, I don’t know either but I do know that at some distant point in the future the Cyborgs will have all of the jobs and I really don’t know how humans will make a living. That’s right John Henry:

Coming of Age

When one finally begins to come to grips with the realization that there are many more years lagging behind you than are looming in front, it causes a reflective pause. And with reflection comes the further realization that you are becoming less relevant every day to those around you. The phone rings less often, less panic consultations take place, and the 250 yard drive is a distant memory.
 Well Buckie, perhaps the time has come for us to step away from the plate, let the new generation swing the bat, and just get the hell out of the way. But most importantly, now might be the time to just relax and ENJOY THE SHOW.

Socialism and Flim Flam

   One of the most enduring mysteries is how Socialism continues to maintain a viable political position in the modern world. I say that because all of the variants of Socialism that have been practiced throughout history have been an unmitigated disaster for every class of Human on this Planet, save one. And the one class of people who exclusively benefits from the practice of Socialism is the Ruling Class. I say that because surely it is well understood that Socialism is the preferred political vehicle to obtain and practice unlimited Political Power with consent and approval of the people.

   And yet, today's educated, inexperienced, and privilliaged youth are embracing Socialism because of the ubiquitous indoctrination by our institutions of learning, even onto the primary and secondary education, that Socialism is the enlightened way for Human social conduct. Other people who are responding positively to Socialism's siren call, are the well meaning, but naive people, who have obtained a burgeoning altruistic streak enabled by a comfortable life brought about by the enduring success of the American way. They naively believe that their hard earned comfortable life should be paid for by sharing their good fortune, and more importantly, other people's fortune, with all regardless if earned or not.

   And then we have those who embrace Socialism because it's promise that all will be equal by forcing a spreading of earned wealth, property and thought to all, regardless of circumstance. These supporters of Socialism are the most strident of all become they are victims of the ancient practice of Flim Flam. Flim Flam only works because there are always dishonest people willing to believe in the promise by those practicing Flim Flam (Socialist and Opportunists) that you can get something for nothing. In other words, Socialists promise that you do not have to earn your way to prosperity, all you have to do is support your Socialist Government to force people who have earned their prosperity to share that prosperity with you. Opportunists also practice Flim Flam by promising "something for nothing" by using the absurd advertising message that "We cheat the other guy, and pass the savings on to you."

This is, in essence, the same message of the Socialist, to wit: "We cheat the other guy, and pass the savings on to you."

   You think I'm off base here. Well then, just listen to and marvel at the support Bernie Sanders is now getting.

Reformation

There has been a great deal of rhetoric lately about the need for a reformation of Islam to rid us of the so-called "radical Islam" that is largely responsible for worldwide terror. Not only is Radical Islam responsible for rampant terror, it is also responsible for the new holocaust of Christians unlucky enough to be living in the lands where Radical Islam is in total control. I think this rhetoric about Islamic Reformation has currency because the Reformation of Christianity was so successful, and so it follows that a similar reformation of Islam would produce the same positive result.

Not so, say I.

The Christian reformation was enabled, in large part, by the invention of the printing press. The printing press not only put the unedited Holy Bible in citizen's hands, the start of the Industrial revolution also enabled a new middle class to form and become enlightened. The Holy Bible was not changed by the printing press; it was made available to the masses unchanged. And so, the Biblical message of Jesus riding an ass while waving palm leaves instead of a sword, and preaching a gospel of Love and Peace, was made manifest to all who would read and understand.

The impossibility of a likewise reformation of Islam is so because the Holy Koran is now available to all who would avail themselves, and that Holy Koran would have to be changed to enable a reformation. That is to say, all that is happening in the name of Islam today is clearly authorized by the Holy Koran as it is written today. So it follows that in order to reform Islam, the Holy Koran would be required to change or added to as it stands today. This in itself is not impossible because the Holy Koran is so constructed that whatever is written last will supersede all that was previously written and at odds with that which is written later.

In my opinion, changing the Holy Koran to reform Islam will never happen today, tomorrow or ever. 

Vesting Again and Again, It's Important

Please bear with me as I once again post the piece on the insidious use of VESTING as a means to make Government Programs permanent and unstoppable. I have come upon a quote from President Franklin D. Roosevelt during the implementation of Social Security Program that proves the charge that these programs were developed with vesting as a fundelmental and important part of their structure in order to make them unstoppable. President Roosevelt quote, to wit:
"Those taxes (Social Security payroll taxes) were never a problem of economics. They are politics all the way through. We put those payroll taxes (Social Security Taxes) there so as to give the contributors a legal, moral, and political right to collect their pensions and their unemployment benefits. With those taxes in there, no dammed politician can ever scrap my Social Security Program. Those taxes aren't a matter of economics, they're straight politics."

Why We Can’t Win At The Ballot Box

You say you want to cut Big Government down to size and regain our freedoms by using the ballot box? Good luck with that. It can’t be done and here is the reason why. VESTING.

That’s right fellow citizens, VESTING. What is vesting? Vesting is when you invest your money, time or other good and valuable resources into a program and then expect a return on your investment. Let me give you a real life example of how our elected Government uses Vesting as an insidious device to perpetuate and expand power by creating basically social programs that cannot ever be stopped or curtailed because of vesting.

Let’s take Social Security as an example and here is how it works. You start a safety net program for old age and pass a law that says you must participate in the program by paying taxes to support the program. Viola, you are now part of the program and you can’t get out without losing all of the money you have paid in even if you could. After time passes you realize that you have paid a great deal of money into the system and you then demand that the program be continued in order that you receive your fair share of what you have invested into the system. In short, you have become VESTED regardless if you wanted to be or not, and the program can never, never ever, be terminated because the citizens have become VESTED in the program.

It only gets better. The Government keeps on expanding the program (Social Security) into other areas and forces you to pay more taxes because you can’t or won’t get out of the program due to VESTING. I bet most people don’t realize that Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare, Aid to Dependant Children, etc. were all enacted under the Social Security Act. Insidious. Now multiply all of the others program that use vesting to perpetuate themselves and you have a situation where the citizens of this country will never allow anyone to stop these programs because of VESTING. For these programs to be fair, they should include an “Op In” clause so that if you want the Government to run your healthcare or retirement, then you must Op In into the program and only you and others who Op In to pay the taxes to support the program. I am now laughing out loud! You should live so long. I’m sorry Brothers and Sisters, you can’t fix our Big Government via the ballot box, it was designed to be unstoppable.

Radical Islam

When I constantly hear people "in the Know" keep referring to "Radical Islam" as being the cause for today's global terrorism, I got to thinking. I got to thinking about what would have happened to our war strategy during WWII if we would have considered Hitler and his followers as only the radical branch of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, (NAZI). You know, Hitler, and his followers, was just radical Nazi's and only small part of the overwhelming majority of the German people who are the peaceful, benign, and compassionate Nazis we all know them to be. This then being the case, then it follows that the vast majority of the German people did not support or approve of the radical Nazis in any manner whatsoever and we would not be at war with them. We would only be at war with the radical Nazis.

If this was our thinking at the time, (much like our thinking of today about radical Islam) how then would we have fought the radical Nazi's? Perhaps that could guide us in defeating the radical Islam that causes today's global terrorism.

I'm just thinking.   

America's Intelligentsia Is Leading Us Back To the Future Again

   As we watch Islam promote Jihad in order to subjugate the World's People into a global Caliphate, I am struck by the similarities of America's Intelligentsia response to this Islamic Political Movement of today (Global Caliphate) with that of the 1920's and 1930's US Intelligentsia response to the socialist movements going on in the Soviet Union (USSR) and the fascists in Germany and Italy at the time. Indeed, leading 1920's and 30's American Intelligentsia such as:

Charles Lindbergh, William Randolph Hurst, Joseph Kennedy (JFK's father), John D Rockefeller, Andrew Mellon, Allen Dulles, and Prescott Bush, were just some of the prominent Americans that gushed over the fascists Francisco Franco, Benito Mussolini and Adolph Hitler as being the leaders of the new world order that is surely to come. Even the influential Magazine Time, and other leading publications, had Hitler as man of the year in 1938.

American Companies were also on the fascist bandwagon, such as: DuPont, General Motors, Standard Oil, National City Bank, and General Electric. These, and other giant American Companies, were all doing business with the up and coming Fascists in the 1920's and 30's. We all are painfully aware that the American Intelligentsia and Business support for these hideous movements lead us to World War II and the unprecedented loss of innocent life and property.

            So here we are once again bearing witness to a new and improved American Intelligentsia that is embodied by the career body Politic, Mass Media, Entertainment, Art Community, and an Academia that no longer swoon over the Fascists and Dictators of yesteryear, but are now champions and paid up members of the American Progressive movement that now swoon over the prospect of no national borders and the elimination of constrictive national Governments along with their worthless scraps of paper called Constitutions. The very same Progressive Movement that inspired FDR, and other Leaders back in the day, to institute the Socialist Programs that are still with us today, such as, Social Security, Income Tax, Medicare, Medicaid, Obama Care, are the decedents of the same Intelligentsia that were yesterday's enthusiastic supporters of the Socialist movement that produced the Communists in the USSR, and the Fascists of Spain, Italy and Germany.  Yes Sir, these are the same Progressives that today find no fault with the Political movement that uses Islam as a Tactical Vehicle to make us all equal under Sharia Law.

            So it's back to the future for those of us who provide currency to today's Intelligentsia that are still very much hard at work to finally propel us all into the promise land were Utopia beams bright and strong, be it by a vehicle of new and improved Socialist doctrine or by living as one under Sharia Law.

It's now the year of our Lord, 2015. It sure took 1984 a long time to get here. But here it is with your Government forcing you to accept same sex marriage or feel the full force of Government until you do. Your Government is now in the process of creating a massive database on every American citizen in order to have the means to bring forth the full power of the Federal Government to enforce something called Social Justice. Social Justice being that magic thing that will ensure everyone is equal in every aspect of human life, that is, in terms of Economic, Academic, Social, Racial, and whatever else the idiot savants think is important. Of course, making this magic happen gives your Government the means to exercise the unlimited power they so desperately crave.  Your Government is now doing this and will soon move beyond forcing you to bent to the Government's will, you will be hammered down until, just like in 1984, you will no longer resist and love your Government for making you, and everyone else, equal and subservient. Sort of sounds like the Star Trek version of the BORG Collective, you know, "Resistance is Futile, You Will Be Assimilated."

China has established the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and over 50 Nations (including most Western nations) have joined. On Sided Cyber War

Here is no great revelation, I am not the sharpest arrow in the quiver. However, there are times when even a blunt edged arrow like me sees something that is so obvious that I must doubt my understanding of the real world because no one else seems to even notice what I think is of glaring importance. 

What I'm talking about here is the continuing cyber attacks by China upon all that is the United States of America and all of Her people therein. What I see, that no one else is apparently concerned about, is that the USA considers these cyber attacks as normal "Business As Usual" in the cyber world  and only worthy of strengthening our defense. Why are we not attacking back in kind with such a cyber blow that China would never again dare to attack us. And oh, By The Way, demand repatriations for damages already done or face even greater blows from the US of A until China returns to tilling the soil with sticks.

Sooner or later, Islam will have to undergo a Reformation in order to remain a viable religion. If a reformation is not forthcoming, it will finally be recognized for what it is, and that is a Political Movement that uses religion as as a tactical vehicle that seeks to overthrow all governments. The overthrow of governments, either by usurption or by the sword, will lead to Islam's ultimate goal of imposing global Sharia on all of mankind. Freedom's Firewall

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has dishonored their robes and their Constitutional mandate by continuously "interpreting" the Constitution rather than "enforcing" the Constitution. If ever their was a poster child for Pompous Intellectualism, SCOTUS is the uncontested winner. Their arrogrant egos can not seem to grasp the fact that the US Constitution was written in plain English so that ordinary citizens could understand and support their Constitution. SCOTUS interpretations of plain English can change night into day, yes into no, and use the commerce clause to justify anything and everthing in the Human Universe. 
   Every Supreme Court Justice sitting today deserves to be impeached and immeditately removed from the bench with new Justices appointed only after suitable Constitutional amenments have been approved by the several states to prevent this disgrace from happening again. But, of course, this would not be required if only Congress would do their duty today by impeaching and removing "interpreting" Justices forthwith.

Stimulus

STIMULATING STIMULUS

   A drunk once confided to me: The reason God created booze and brewski was so that ugly people could enjoy sex too. I really don’t know why the fellow directed his observation about ugly drunk people in my direction but I did think at length about what he apparently said in humor. You know things like, if God wanted to ensure that the planet would always be fully populated, creating booze and brewski would be an easy way to do it. You know, a sort of Divine Stimulus Program. 

   Nevertheless, I did curtail my alcohol consumption several-fold to test the drunk’s hypothesis and to lose some weight, what the sunshine boys call a Win, Win situation. On second thought, given that the hypothesis might indeed be correct, then perhaps it could end up being a Lose, Win situation. All of this brings to mind the famous quotation attributed to Sir Winston Churchill when Lady Astor accused him of being drunk, to wit the grand man was reported to have said, “Yes, madam, I am drunk. But in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly." But I digress.

    The Divine Stimulus Program to keep the planet populated got me to thinking about the Washington (Divine) Stimulus Program, you know, the one where the Government is creating money and the created money will somehow be injected into the economy which will then “stimulate” demand, which will then stimulate the economy to produce more goods, services, etc., which will stimulate the creation of jobs, which will stimulate the payment of money for labor (physical and intellectual), the payment of money for labor will then stimulate more demand for goods and services and, voila, a functioning and viable free market economy where only ruin and wreckage had once prevailed.

    Yeah, right. In days gone by, I was a Program Manager and I had to go to Washington DC to pitch my programs at Navy Headquarters in order to get money to execute my programs that the Navy wanted. The pitch was usually a view-graft presentation showing all of the elements of the program and how it would all come together, on time and within budget. Usually somewhere in the presentation things would inevitably get a little hazy on how a key element would occur (like requiring a technology that did not yet exist) and this is the place where a miracle would need to take place to make the program successful. 

   Well in reality there are no such things as miracles and the so-called Government stimulus program requires a miracle somewhere in there to make it successful, and here is the reason why. First, there are two basic kinds of economies, a Top Down Economy (managed economy, e.g., USSR) and a Bottom Up Economy (free market economy, e.g., USA), with many variations in between. The USA has a free market economy even though with each passing day it becomes more and more a managed economy. The government intervening into a free market place by throwing artificial money into the system (the stimulus program, with more about artificial money later) transforms the functioning of the free market because the intervention is an attempt to manage the economy rather than let the free market place manage the economy.

    Just like you can’t really pay off a credit card with a credit card, you really can’t manage a free market place by intervening in it. If you attempt to manage a free market, you can only further disrupt the functioning of the economy. This counterproductive situation should be patently obvious even to Flim Flam Politicians. Let’s talk about money. Money is a wonderful invention by man to facilitate the functioning of an economy. Without money, we would be reduced to barter, and we all understand that an economy based upon barter would leave us stuck in the Stone Age. Real money is the medium of exchange (gold, paper certificate, ones & zeros, etc.) that we all agree has the same value as our labor, goods or property. Money relies exclusively upon the faith and trust of the people that money is as valuable as their hard work, property and productive enterprise. Real money can only be produced by productive enterprise because only real money represents real value. The Government cannot produce real money, only productive enterprise can produce real money and only real money is viable in a free market place because it alone represents real value. Government can only produce artificial money because it (the Government) is not engaged in productive enterprise in a free market economy. If the Government produces (prints or borrows) artificial money, that artificial money can only dilute the value of real money (inflation) because it (artificial money) was not produced by productive enterprise. Unless a miracle occurs, throwing artificial money into a free market economy cannot possibly grow the economy because the artificial money does not represent real value and the intervention is doomed to eventual failure.

    The only possible way to restart the economy and cause it to grow is to create the conditions favorable to productive enterprise. This can be done by a moratorium on business taxes, eliminate capital gains tax, provide incentives for business to do business here rather than outsourcing factories and jobs to more favorable locations. The most important change that must occur before any long term improvement can occur is that our economy must change from a 70% consumer driven Gross National Product (GNP) to a more sustainable productive enterprise GNP. So here is the situation that we are stuck with in this Government Stimulus Intervention. We will all get drunk on artificial money, but in the morning we will be sober, and the economy will still be ugly.

POLITICAL PARTIES, ENDURING NEMESIS

   I believe it was Niccolo Machiavelli, who wrote in his 1513 Tome, The Prince, “What doctors say about consumption applies here: at the beginning the disease is easy to cure but difficult to diagnose, but in the course of time, when it was not diagnosed at first and treated, it becomes easy to diagnose but difficult to cure. Thus it happens in the affairs of state: if the evils that are developing are diagnosed from afar (which only the prudent man can do), they are quickly cured, but when they have not been diagnosed and are allowed to grow so that everyone recognizes them, then there is no longer any remedy for them.” 

  It is my considered opinion that Political Parties, and the intellectuals who shape and control them, is ever much like the disease of consumption that Machiavelli used as a metaphor for the evils that can destroy a State. Just as the disease of consumption (tuberculosis) has a germ that is the basis of the disease (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) and is the evil that can destroy a healthy body, there is also an evil that can also destroy the healthy body of a Constitutional Republic. The evil that can destroy a healthy, liberty-loving Constitutional Republic is a disease called factionalism. The disease of factionalism can destroy a healthy, liberty loving Constitutional Republic just as easily as consumption can destroy a healthy active human body. The disease of factionalism also has a germ that is the basis for the disease, and the deadly germ that causes the disease of factionalism is called a political party. Political parties are created for the expressed purpose of representing factions and then gaining power to prevail over other created factions.

    Political parties are therefore the very antithesis of a freedom-loving people seeking ways to come together for common cause. American political parties began with the establishment of the Federalists (strong federal government) and Anti-federalists (fearful of a strong federal government usurping a state’s sovereignty) and continue until this day. As Machiavelli pointed out, now that the disease of factionalism is finally diagnosed, the likelihood of curing the disease is a most difficult endeavor. Perhaps you are thinking that I’m overstating the importance of political parties being antithesis to our beloved Republic. Fair enough. Then perhaps you will consider the farewell address of President George Washington wherein the first President devoted most of his remarks about the evils of political parties. I have included a portion of his historic remarks on the subject below:
   “They (political parties) serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels and modified by mutual interests. However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”

   Even though it will be nearly impossible for the American people to cure the disease of factionalism caused by political parties, by the grace of liberty, it can be done. We can kill the germ of political parties by not supporting them in any fashion whatsoever. Come on America, don’t you really think it’s time for us citizens to think for ourselves and renew the Republic on an individual basis. I know it will be extremely difficult for a people conditioned by an entitlement culture fashioned by political parties to create lifelong constituencies, but it can be done by becoming independent citizens and voters and giving all political parties the boot.

   Has this ever happened to you? One day you look at something that has always been a part of your world and suddenly you discover, hey, why I am still using this? For example, a short time ago I looked at my landline telephone and then at my cell phone and said; why do I have my old telephone hanging on the wall when I have a personal telephone in my pocket? All I ever get from the old telephone is unsolicited calls from the FOP and roofing contractors, so why am I still paying for this thing? So I discontinued the telephone service that has been a part of my life for over #?X!** years and I have not missed the old ring-a-ding thing at all.

    There are a number of other things like the telephone that could be used to make the point, but I think we all understand that we make similar changes every day as circumstances allow and dictate. The point being that time marches on and technology, modern circumstances, personal preferences, etc., all play a role in changing what we need in the modern world to either get along or make life easier. After I wrote the piece, “The Decline and Fall of the GOP”, I suddenly thought, who needs political parties in this day and age anyway? Think about it. What is the purpose of a political party in a Democratic Republic?  

      Perhaps in the old days a political party could provide a needed service to the electorate by distilling a political philosophy into every day terms that could be more readily understood by the people. The party could then promote a doctrine that reflected the stated political philosophy and take positions that a citizen could either support or oppose. Well that was then and this is now and the fact is that people nowadays have much more educational opportunities than was available in the good old days and we all should be wiser about all things political as a result.

    Also, in the good old days, communications was either by word-of-mouth or newspapers, but today we are completely overwhelmed by information coming in from every direction, constantly. So there is no reason on this beautiful blue planet why anyone should not be informed as to what is going on in the world and this knowledge should provide us with all of the wherewithal required to make informed judgments and vote accordingly. So why do we still need political parties telling us what they want us to hear? As a matter of fact, the two party system now entrenched in our political system is more interested in providing misinformation and spin in order to stay in power rather than actually providing an objective political service to the electorate.

    What the hell, we might as well call a rose a rose; the ruling political parties are corrupt and you cannot believe one word they say. So I say; we don’t need no stinking political parties anymore, let them go the way of the telephone! Let’s all become Independents and trust our own judgments rather than let the self-serving political parties lead us to where they want us to go. Enabling technologies and modern times provides us all with the means to be completely independent, and for goodness sakes, now is the time to do so. This is something we can actually do, and by so doing, it (become Independents) could well be the first meaningful step by the people to take back control of our country. Think about it. I can’t imagine a more freedom-enhancing situation than having a completely Independent electorate guiding the country.

The 9% Congress

   According to the latest Gallop findings, 25% of Americans consider themselves to be Republicians, 31% Democrats, and 42% Independents. Perhaps this trend signals that Political Parties are finally heading to the trash dump of really bad ideas.
   Don’t you just love percentages? Sometimes I view percentages like Will Rogers viewed statistics, you know, “There are lies, damn lies, and statistics (percentages)” and just like statistics, percentages are about as subjective as you can get when defining Human endeavors. For example, how many times have we all scoured over our favorite baseball player’s batting percentages only to speculate with cynical wisdom, about the chances of our employment survival with a 323 average of performance success? And how about the chances of rain percentages that the weather guessers are always laying on us? I mean, is it really possible to get 60% wetter if you are caught in a 90% chance of rain rather than a 30% chance. 

   I have a remarkable and very unscientific theory about things like this based upon a lifetime of observations while usually sipping away on an ice-cold brewski, and it goes like this. Compensation (money, etc.) is usually inversely proportional to the importance of the job or position. Just think about it. The President of the US of A makes considerable less money than a tobacco-chewing and mediocre big leaguer while a really important job, like garbage collector, barely makes enough jack to buy cigarettes while trying to support a family. I think we all can validate my theory many times over.
    In an odd sort of way, this brings me to a recent Rasmussen poll that confirms what most of us already knew and that is about 9% of Americans think the highly compensated members of the United States Congress are doing a good or excellent job. When I saw the percentages listed in this poll, I was immediately drawn to the 9 % number. What attracted my attention was not the confirmation of my own feelings about what the number represents, but rather the glaring 9% number sitting there all by itself.

    Let me explain, or pontificate if you prefer. The Gallop research data reports that the American electorate has come to be divided along political party lines by the following percentages: 31% Democrat, 25% Republican and 42% Independent. Well I’m not a rocket scientist but I can calculate that 25 plus 31 plus 42 equals 98% of the electorate. So what happened to the remaining 2% of the American electorate that the poll failed to address?

   Well Gallop may not know who you are, but you 2% out there know who you are, and so do I. I have always been a little dismayed and a little envious of this 2% because they are the ones who never seem to go along with the rest of us because they don’t give a damn about what’s going on around them or what other people think about them for that matter. But the 2% is probably a polling error because both you and I know that the percentage of people who don't give a damn about anything is more like 10%, not 2%.

   Thinking people really don't know how to address this 10% because we are also told that some 47% of the people are also on the Government dole. How this 47% figures into the 25, 31, 42 numbers is no doubt well beyond human cognitive capabilities.
   What I'm thinking here is that the 10% are the ones who say out loud “I don’t want to work, just want to bang on the drum all day.” This of course brings us back to that glaring 9% number that is close enough to the 10% number to be “within the margin of error”.
   So it occurred to me that the “don’t give a damn” 10% are the very same ones who think that the highly compensated members of Congress are doing a good or excellent job because they too (the highly compensated members of Congress) Don’t want to work, they just want to bang on the political drum all day.

Minerva Research Initiative

I would like to suggest that you Google "Minerva Research Initiative", which has to do with the Federal Government (DOD) conducting research on how to deal militarily with civil unrest, and uprisings. After you have researched what the Minerva Research Initiative is doing and recommending, you may pause and speculate about what has the research Inititive have to do with the citizens of the USA. Perhaps, in order to answer that quesition, one must first determine how would you support the findings of the Minerva Research Initiate with action? Actions supporting of the findings of the Initiative should point the way to answer the question, What has this Initative got to do with American Citizens?
Perhaps you will recall how the National Security Agency (NSA) has many data mining and citizen surveillance programs underway with enormous amounts of "META" data being stored about every aspect of American activity and identification. NSA has never fully explained why they are doing this against American citizens. However, if after researching the Minerva Research Initiative, one could certainly make the case that such "META" date would be required in order to support the findings and recommendations of the Initiative. Now couple that with the unexplained actions of Homland Security in creating an unconstitutional National Armed Police force while purchasing extraordinary amounts of ammunition, along with acquiring implements for war fighting, perhaps you can connect the dots about how you would support the findings of the Initiative with action.
   So, perhaps, the question concerning how does the research Initiative have to do with American Citizens can be answered by what the NSA and Homeland Security has been doing. You make the call.
